2015-2016 Season Highlights

  • SFNA participants who qualified for and competed in the Alberta Winter Games: 4
  • Multi-Community Festival Day: 120 participants
  • Ski Tour Canada (World Cup racing spectator experience): 28 participants
  • After school ski clubs/teams in operation: 2 (40 participants)
  • New coaches/leaders trained: 6
  • Olympic visitors and inspirational guest speakers: 8

 

2014-2015 Season Highlights

  • SFNA expanded into three new schools: Goodfish Lake First Nation, Morley, and Edmonton (as an inner city pilot project)
  • Through purchasing skit ski equipment, SFNA can accommodate participants with all physical abilities.
  • Trained and certified seventeen new coaches throughout the province
  • Continued investment in equipment from a number of communities (race/touring equipment, warm up suits, track setter)
  • Three National Ski Team Members (all 2014 Olympians) made community visits on behalf of SFNA: Jesse Cockney, Perianne Jones, Collette Bourgonje
  • Continued Positive Media Coverage – Global News, The Edmonton Sun, and CBC radio among the numerous local media outlets throughout Alberta
  • Increased number of schools where skiing is now a part of their Phys. Ed program.
  • Enhanced the quality of each visit by providing groomed cross country ski trails for the schools and communities.
